Who I am

Hello there!

I’m Kendall, the heart and soul behind The Happy Editor—my freelance writing, editing, and proofreading business that provides services for businesses, academic scholars, and job seekers.

The Happy Editor is my happy place, where my love for words and my joyful energy collide. Whether crafting compelling content, refining prose, or polishing final drafts, I bring expertise, passion, and enthusiasm to every project.

I hold a Master’s in English from Monmouth University and a Bachelor’s from Georgian Court University. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of wearing many hats, all of which have shaped my approach to language. From serving as an English professor at two different colleges, to acting as a faculty writing tutor, graduate research assistant, and in-house associate editor, I’ve had the privilege of sharpening my writing, editing, and research skills.

Precision, clarity, and the art of the written word—these have been the focus of my continuing education. In 2022, I earned a certificate in grant writing from San Diego State University. In 2023, I refined my editorial expertise through the University of Chicago’s intensive year-long Professional Editing program. In 2024, I broadened my technical writing skills with a certification from the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire. With each step, I’ve strengthened my ability to craft, refine, and elevate writing across various disciplines.

With over 10 years of hands-on experience in writing, editing, proofreading, and research, I’ve honed my craft and refined my skills. Writing and editing aren’t just what I do—they are my true passions in life!

In addition to my work as a freelance writer, editor, and proofreader, I’m also a published author. My short story, written under the pen name Elizabeth K.
